Peace and Sport

Far more than just games, sport is a universal tool of dialogue, brotherhood, and civic-mindedness.  Turning "no man's lands" into sport playgrounds, rehabilitating former child soldiers, reintegrating refugees, teaching citizenship in impoverished urban zones - this is what Peace and Sport represents.

Peace and Sport's mission is to promote the values of education through sport, serving individuals and communities across the world.  Its action takes place on two levels: The development of Local-Based Projects, genuine development programs on the field, and the organization of an International Annual Forum.

Ron Andruff, dotSport LLC CEO, addressing Peace and Sport Forum 2008

For this purpose, Peace and Sport has four objectives:
  • Convincing world leaders, by increasing governments' and political decision makers' awareness, of the significant interest of sport used as a vehicle for peace, both in preventing and solving the multiplicity of potential and existing crises situations in the world.
  • Inciting the international sporting community to act beyond its traditional field of operations, and actively contribute to peace.
  • Federating resources, and creating synergies between public and private actors to develop and implement concrete and efficient Local-Based Projects, in sensitive areas around the world.
  • Involving international corporations to grow the role of sport in corporate social responsibility policies, encourage support for local development projects and garner ongoing commitment to the initiatives conducted by Peace and Sport.
Peace and Sport brings together all international and national players involved at the highest level. It establishes a hub of exchange and convergence between governments, political leaders, world sport governance bodies, international organizations, NGOs, athletes, sport experts and corporations, to create a synergy between their projects, their thinking and their efforts.
